5 Recipes For International Hummus Day
Once upon a time, hummus was found solely at traditional, Middle-Eastern meals, but now it is as much of a Western fridge essential as eggs, milk and bread. Thanks to its wonderous versatility, it’s the perfect way to spruce up a dull lunchtime salad, to serve with chips and veggie sticks to please party guests, or to smear on pitta bread to satisfy hungry bellies after a big night out. Deservedly so, it now has its own day dedicated to its deliciousness - International Hummus Day on May 13th. Here’s 5 of our favourite recipes for you to celebrate with this year:
Protein Hummus
For when your hummus says something funny and you just think… classic hummus! All terrible puns aside, we make a lot of sweet treats with our proteins here at Neat HQ, but it's not just pancakes and protein balls that you can use your protein powder for. We teamed up with Hannah at This Is Good who whipped up an awesome protein hummus for us using our Naked Protein.
Naked Protein is unflavoured so it’s perfect for savoury dishes where vanilla, chocolate or berry just aren’t going to work. Meanwhile, chickpeas, the main ingredient of this dish, are high in fibre and as well as iron, phosphate, calcium, magnesium, manganese, zinc and vitamin K which are all important in maintaining bone health. So all in all, this is a great snack to share out at a party!

Red Pepper Hummus
The weather here in London has been glorious this week, and seeing as this is probably the only time we’ll see the sun all year, it’s fair enough that we want to eat alfresco and picnic in the park as many times as possible! This red pepper dip is the perfect protein-packed snack to take along to any gatherings or bbq's this Summer...

Chunky Monkey Chickpea Cookie Dough
These last two recipes might be called cookie dough (because let’s be honest it sounds WAY more enticing), but essentially they are sweet hummus recipes! Don’t let this put you off though, as these vegan treats are both delicious and perfect for a healthier dessert option or snack when you just need something a little decadent!
