Why Is Our Plant-Based Protein a Pea and Hemp Blend?
There are a lot of plant-based protein powders on the market and many of them will consist of just one one core ingredient: hemp, pea, soy and brown rice are some of the most common ones. However, here at Neat Nutrition, we’ve chosen to mix pea and hemp together to create our vegan protein blend.
Why Choose a Pea and Hemp Blend?
Unlike whey protein, a lot of plant-based protein sources are not complete proteins, meaning they do not contain all of the essential amino acids your body needs. Essential amino acids are those you get from your diet rather than your body making them. Hemp has a more comprehensive blend of these, in comparison to many other plant-based sources sources.
Meanwhile, pea protein is closest to a whole food source and is high in lysine, which is an amino acid that many people following a vegan diet may lack. Lysine is used in the production of carnitine – which your body uses to make energy from fat. It also assists the body in its absorption of calcium and the production of collagen. So, it’s responsible for some pretty important stuff!
So, this is why we mix 80% pea protein with 20% hemp protein for a blend that’s optimum for you. It’s soy and gluten free – so a perfect choice for any allergen sufferers or those who choose to follow a dairy-free diet. Plus, it tastes great and makes for a smooth-textured shake!
