Chocolate Nut Butter Bars

It's a well known fact at Neat HQ that there's no greater dessert combo than chocolate and nut butter. And these soft and gooey nut butter squares do not disappoint! They taste way too good to be good for you...

METHOD: 

Mix all your ingredients together either by hand or in a food processor, except for the chocolate. 

Press this into a greased or lined baking tin about an inch and a half thick. Next, melt your chocolate to go on top. To do this, place it in a heatproof bowl above a saucepan of boiling water and stir regularly until smooth. 

Pour on the chocolate topping and spread smooth before placing the tin in the freezer for an hour. Once set, keep in the fridge (they can also be kept in the freezer if you prefer a frozen treat). 

 

INGREDIENTS:

(makes approx 8 squares)  

  • 3/4 cup nut butter - we used a mixture of cashew & almond 
  • 1/3 cup ground flaxseed
  • 3 heaped tbsp almond meal or ground almonds 
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil, melted
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • A pinch of salt
  • 1 sachet Neat Nutrition Plant Protein (Vanilla)
  • Melted chocolate - we used about 3/4 bar Green & Black's dark chocolate
